A blister is a small pocket of body fluid within the upper layers of the skin, usually caused by forceful rubbing (friction), burning, freezing, chemical exposure or infection. Most blisters are filled with a clear fluid, either serum or plasma. However, blisters can be filled with blood or with pus.

ಬೊಬ್ಬೆ ಎಂದರೆ ರಸಿಕೆ, ವಸೆ ಅಥವಾ ರಕ್ತದ ಕಲೆಗಳುಳ್ಳ ದ್ರವ ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡು ಚರ್ಮದ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಬ್ಬಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕಾಣುವ ಗುಳ್ಳೆ (ಬ್ಲಿಸ್ಟರ್). ಇದು ಮೇಲು ಮೇಲಿನದಾಗಿರಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ ಆಳವಾದುದಾಗಿರಬಹುದು. ವಿವಿಧ ಆಕಾರ ಗಾತ್ರ ಒಂದೇ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಕೆಲವು ಕೋಣೆ ಹೊಂದಿರಬಹುದು. ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮತೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಇದು ತಾನೇ ತಾನಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ತಗುಲಿದಾಗ ಒಡೆಯುವುದು. ಚರ್ಮ ಸುಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅಥವಾ ಒರಟು ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಜ್ಜಿದಾಗ ಬೊಬ್ಬೆ ಏಳಬಹುದು. ಇದನ್ನು ಸಾಸಿವೆ ಎಣ್ಣೆ ಅಥವಾ ಕ್ಯಾಂತರೇಡ್ಸ್ ಎಂಬ ಹುಣ್ಣುನೊಣಗಳಿಂದ ಕೃತಕವಾಗಿ ಉಂಟಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಹುಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಪೆಂಫೈಗಸ್ ಎರಿಸಿಪೆಲಾಸ್ ಮುಂತಾದ ರೋಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಬಹುದು.
