Fishery can mean either the enterprise of raising or harvesting fish and other aquatic life or, more commonly, the site where such enterprise takes place. Commercial fisheries include wild fisheries and fish farms, both in freshwater waterbodies and the oceans. About 500 million people worldwide are economically dependent on fisheries. 171 million tonnes of fish were produced in 2016, but overfishing is an increasing problem, causing declines in some populations.

मत्स्योद्योग (fisheries) आर्थिक लाभ के लिये मछली पालने, पकड़ने व उनसे खाद्य और अन्य उत्पादन बनाने के उद्योग को कहते हैं। यह अक्सर समुद्री तटवर्ती क्षेत्रों की अर्थव्यवस्थाओं में बहुत महत्व रखता है। मत्स्योद्योग कई प्रकार के होते हैं और उसकी गतिविधियाँ स्थान, मछली के प्रकार, मछली पालने व पकड़ने के उपकरणों और नौकाओं के अनुसार भिन्न होती हैं।
