Subsoil is the layer of soil under the topsoil on the surface of the ground. Like topsoil, it is composed of a variable mixture of small particles such as sand, silt and clay, but with a much lower percentage of organic matter and humus, and it has a small amount of rocks which are smaller mixed with it. The subsoil is also called B Horizon.

অধোমৃত্তিকা বলতে ভূপৃষ্ঠস্থিত মাটির উপরিমৃত্তিকা স্তরের নিচে অবস্থিত স্তরটিকে বোঝায়। উপরিমৃত্তিকা স্তরের মতো এই স্তরটিও বালু, পলি ও কর্দমের ক্ষুদ্র কণার বৈচিত্র্যময় মিশ্রণ, তবে এটিতে জৈব পদার্থ ও জীবাবশিষ্ট (হিউমাস) এবং অল্ল পরিমাণে ক্ষুদ্রাকৃতির শিলাও মিশ্রিত থাকে। অধোমৃত্তিকাকে বি দিগন্ত বলা হয়। অধোমৃত্তিকার নিচের স্তরটিকে মৃত্তিকাভিত্তি বা সি দিগন্ত বলে।
