জায়ফল হল Myristica গণের বেশ কয়েকটি প্রজাতির বীজ বা গুঁড়ো মশলা। এর ইংরেজি: Nutmeg, ইন্দোনেশিয়ায় pala। এটি ফলের দুটি প্রজাতি – অন্যটি । এই দুটিই হচ্ছে Myristica গণের প্রজাতি যাদের থেকে এক রকমের সুগন্ধি মসলা পাওয়া যায়। সবচেয়ে বাণিজ্যিকভাবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রজাতি হচ্ছে জয়ত্রি বা Myristica fragrans. এটি ইন্দোনেশিয়ার মালাক্কা ও বান্দা দ্বীপে পাওয়া যায়।
