मस्तिष्क (mastiska) - Meaning in English

मस्तिष्क जन्तुओं के केन्द्रीय तंत्रिका तंत्र का नियंत्रण केन्द्र है। यह उनके आचरणों का नियमन एंव नियंत्रण करता है। स्तनधारी प्राणियों में मस्तिष्क सिर में स्थित होता है तथा खोपड़ी द्वारा सुरक्षित रहता है। यह मुख्य ज्ञानेन्द्रियों, आँख, नाक, जीभ और कान से जुड़ा हुआ, उनके करीब ही स्थित होता है। मस्तिष्क सभी रीढ़धारी प्राणियों में होता है परंतु अमेरूदण्डी प्राणियों में यह केन्द्रीय मस्तिष्क या स्वतंत्र गैंगलिया के रूप में होता है। कुछ जीवों जैसे निडारिया एंव तारा मछली में यह केन्द्रीभूत न होकर शरीर में यत्र तत्र फैला रहता है, जबकि कुछ प्राणियों जैसे स्पंज में तो मस्तिष्क होता ही नही है। उच्च श्रेणी के प्राणियों जैसे मानव में मस्तिष्क अत्यंत जटिल होते हैं। मानव मस्तिष्क में लगभग १ अरब (१,००,००,००,०००) तंत्रिका कोशिकाएं होती है, जिनमें से प्रत्येक अन्य तंत्रिका कोशिकाओं से १० हजार (१०,०००) से भी अधिक संयोग स्थापित करती हैं। मस्तिष्क सबसे जटिल अंग है।
