A cay, also spelled caye or key, is a small, low-elevation, sandy island on the surface of a coral reef. Cays occur in tropical environments throughout the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian oceans, including in the Caribbean and on the Great Barrier Reef and Belize Barrier Reef.

प्रवाली, बलुई भित्ति या बलुआ भित्ति किसी प्रवाल भित्ति की सतह पर निर्मित एक छोटा, कम ऊंचाई वाला रेतीला द्वीप होता है। प्रवालियां प्रशांत, अटलांटिक और हिंद महासागरों के उष्णकटिबंधीय पर्यावरण वाले संपूर्ण क्षेत्रों में पायी जाती हैं, जहां ये हजारों लोगों को रहने और कृषि के लिए योग्य भूमि उपलब्ध कराती हैं। इनके आसपास का शैल पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र भी द्वीप निवासियों को भोजन और निर्माण सामग्री उपलब्ध कराता है।
