ਪੈਸਾ ਜਾਂ ਧਨ ਉਹ ਜਿਨਸ (commodity) ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦੀ ਇੱਕੋ ਇੱਕ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਮੁੱਲ ਦਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਧਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਹਿ ਲਉ ਪੈਸਾ ਇੱਕ ਜਿਨਸ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਲੇਕਿਨ ਉਹ ਜਿਨਸ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜਿਨਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਪ ਵਜੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਲਈ ਚੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts, such as taxes, in a particular country or socio-economic context. The primary functions which distinguish money are: medium of exchange, a unit of account, a store of value and sometimes, a standard of deferred payment.
