पुलिस एक सुरक्षा बल होता है जिसका उपयोग किसी भी देश की अन्दरूनी नागरिक सुरक्षा के लिये ठीक उसी तरह से किया जाता है जिस प्रकार किसी देश की बाहरी अनैतिक गतिविधियों से रक्षा के लिये सेना का उपयोग किया जाता है।

Police forces are usually public sector services, funded through taxes.
