नरकट NOUN

बेंत की तरह का एक प्रसिद्ध पौधा जिसकी पत्तियाँ बाँस की पत्तियों की तरह पतली और लंबी होती हैं । विशेष—इसके डठल लंबे, मजबुत और बीच से पोले होते हैं और कलमें तथा चटाइयाँ आदि बनाने के काम में आते हैं । इसके अतिरिक्त इसके डंठलों का उपयोग हुक्के की निगालियाँ, दोरियाँ और बैठने के लिये मोढ़े आदि बनाने और छतें पाटने में भी होता है । कहीं कहीं इसके रेशों से रस्से भी बनाए जाते हैं ।

Description

नरकट एक घास है जिसके पौधे का तना खोखला गाँठ वाला होता है। पहले इसकी कलम बनायी जाती थी। इसका उपयोग टाटी, झोपड़ा, छप्पर आदि बनाने के काम आती है। इसे कच्चे बांधों के बगल में लगा देने से इसकी जड़ें मिट्टी को बाँध लेती हैं जिससे मिट्टी का कटांव नहीं हो पाता। इसको ईंधन के रूप में एवं फर्नीचर आदि के लिये भी उपयोग में लाया जाता है।
