Feudalism, also known as the feudal system, was a combination of legal, economic, military, cultural, and political customs that flourished in medieval Europe from the 9th to 15th centuries. Broadly defined, it was a way of structuring society around relationships derived from the holding of land in exchange for service or labour.

সামন্ততন্ত্র বা সামন্তবাদ মধ্যযুগের ইউরোপের ইতিহাসে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রতিষ্ঠান বা প্রথা। মধ্য যুগে ইউরোপে যে তিনটি স্তম্ভ এর উপর ভিত্তি করে তাদের সমাজ ও সভ্যতার সৌধ নির্মিত হয়েছিল বলে স্বীকৃত, সেই তিনটি স্তম্ভের মধ্যে নিঃসন্দেহে সামন্ত্রতন্ত্র বিশেষভাবে আলোচিত। কারণ সামন্ত্রতন্ত্র ইউরোপের ইতিহাসে এতো বেশি আলোচিত যে, মধ্যযুগকে অনেক সময় সামন্ত্রতন্ত্রের যুগ বলেও চিহ্নিত করা হয়।
