The defence ministry has accused the rebels of abducting 16 children from a Roman Catholic orphanage in the town on Friday. It described the abduction as a "nefarious act of terrorism" and an "ideal example of the inhumanity of the terrorist outfit". -- BBC News, December 29, 2008
India cannot grow the same way as China, though, even if it does pursue low-cost manufacturing just as avidly. India is a functioning democracy, where local governments do battle with New Delhi and small constituencies make their voices heard.
