Dear Raj,
I will definitely attempt all of them but not today.
I am now going out for Sight seeing in San Diego with my family.
I will come back only at night
I will do these one by one later but I will give preference to short questions
These idioms take more time to think and write.
If I forget , please post them again so that I can see them and attempt them.
Regards
GV

that figures

It makes sense.
It confirms what we have guessed.
That is not surprising at all.

Wife: “Did you switch off the AC like I told you?
Husband: “Oh, I forgot.”
Wife: “That Figures. I knew you were absent minded”

More examples from the web:

Bob: Tom was the one who broke the window.
Bill: It figures. He’s very careless.

Ann: Mary was the last one to arrive.
Sally: It figures. She’s always late. I have known her for years.

First woman : Did you know the latest news? Mary and James are breaking up!
Second woman: Really ?  Do tell!

I blew it

I made a blunder, I made a huge mistake

Either the English was too tough or the books gave contradictory ideas,

I ended up being more confused than ever,

I had wanted exactly that.

I could still smell the burning fumes from Rohan’s Bentley long after he had left, or maybe it was my burning insides…

GV

example:
A: Did you do exactly as I told you?
B: Yes, I did
A: Then why is the machine not working?
B: I don’t know
A: What exactly did you to to the upper lever?
B: I turned it clockwise
A: You blew it! Did I not tell you to turn it anticlockwise?

example:
A: How was the interview?
B: I blew it! They kicked me out!

maddening,

exasperating, infuriating, vexing

example:
A: Did you get your visa?
B: Yes, but it was maddening!
A: Why what happened?
B: I had to stand in a queue for over four hours! And I had to answer the most stupid questions!

A: Why are you so late?
B: I was caught up in bumper to bumper traffic. It was maddening!

rise and shine

An expression used when waking someone up,

Examples and more definitions from various web sites:

It’s past seven, children-rise and shine!

Originating as a military order in the late 1800s, shine here means “act lively, do well.”

Rise and shine!
Get out of bed and be lively and energetic! (Often a command.)
Example:
Come on, children! Rise and shine! We’re going to the beach.
Father always calls “Rise and shine!” in the morning when we want to go on sleeping.

Something that you say to tell someone to get out of bed and start their day
Example:
Rise and shine, sleepy head - you have to leave for school in twenty minutes.

You can try to sell your old car but expecting Rs 3 lakhs for it is just a pie-in-the-sky.
