Bengalees generally pronounce व as ब
For others, the difference is clear.
व is va and ब is ba
When you you say व (va) your upper front teeth gently touch the lower lip
when you say (ba) the teeth are not involved. Your upper lip kisses the lower lip.
Try it and it will be clear.

Our Bengali President’s name प्रणब is usually pronounced प्रणव in other languages
