ModeratorDid you use “Google Translate” or some other machine / software translation ?
Don’t trust Google to translate correctly, except for trivially short and simple sentences with.
The first translation is reasonably correct.
The second, (retranslation) is wrong.

New MemberThanx GV, If first translation is correct then how will you translate “Mai vidyalay jata tha.”
gvshwnth
ModeratorThe first translation is only “reasonably” correct.
To be correct it should have been mai vidyaalay gaya tha——-> “I had gone to school”
The first translation “I went to school “would have been okay if the original sentence had been “mai vidyaalay gaya”
Since the incorrect translation was retranslated you got a different output the second time.
The correct translation for “mai vidyalay jaata tha” is something in between “I was going to school” and “I used to go to shcool”
Purists will say:
“I was going to school” should be mai vidyalay jaa rahaa tha
“I used to to go school” should be mai vidyalay jaaya karta tha
Pretty confusing, I agree.
I invite native Hindi speakers to give the absolutely correct and accurate translation of “Mai vidyaalay jaata tha”

New MemberNow I am in more confusion… I have following sentences.
1- “Mai vidyalay gaya” It’s not correct in hindi. It should be “Mai vidyalay gaya tha”
2- “Mai vidyalay ja chuka tha”
3- “Mai vidyalay jata tha”
And corresponding translation in english (As i am translating)
1- <I don’t know how to translate it>.
2- I had gone to school.
3- I went to school.
Actually there is a little difference in “Mai vidyalay gaya tha” and “Mai vidyalay jata tha”
1st sentence means once in past I went to school.
and in 2nd sentence I am saying that in past I went to school but not only once but it was my routine.
So Mr. GV hope now you have got what I want to ask. Now please translate both sentences.
Thank you
