I cannot find a convincing translation for this in Shabdkosh or other on-line dictionaries. The meaning given is ‘stag’, a noun, but पोल खोल देना is a verb.
The context is an article in Dainik Jagran on the attack on Pakistani TV personality and author, Hamid Meer. http://www.jagran.com/news/world-attack-on-hamid-meer-11246817.html?src=p1

The sentence includes इस हमले ने सुरक्षा-व्यवस्था की पोल खोल दी है।

पोल खोल देना means to expose, or unmask.

I too did not understand “Stag” that is listed under पोल खोल देना in Shabdkosh.com

G. Vishwanath, thank you so much. I should have thought of that. The translation of पोल खोलना makes perfect sense.

The only meaning I know for stag is a male deer. That just doesn’t make sense.
