भाषा (bhasa) - Meaning in English

भाषेविषयीचे कुतूहल प्राचीन काळापासून माणसाला वाटत आले आहे. अगदी पूर्वीपासूनच लोकपरंपरेत भाषेच्या उगमाबद्दल, शक्तीबद्दल विविध आख्यायिका, कहाण्या प्रचलित होत्या, तो त्या कुतूहलाच्याच पूर्तीचा प्रयत्न होय. भाषा हे आपल्या अंतरंगातील मनोगत, भावना, विचार इत्यादी प्रगट करण्याचे साधन आहे, ही जाणीव तर पूर्वीपासून होतीच. पण या साधनाचे स्वरूप नेमके कसे आहे, हे स्पष्ट करण्याचे प्रयत्न आधुनिक कालखंडात विशेषत्वाने होऊ लागले. त्यातूनच भाषाविज्ञान ही ज्ञानशाखाही विकसित होत गेली. बदलत्या काळानुसार भाषेत बदल होत गेल्याचे आपणास दिसून येते. वेगवेगळ्या जाती धर्माची भाषा वेगवेगळी असू शकते.
