Varnish is a clear transparent hard protective coating or film. It is not to be confused with wood stain. It usually has a yellowish shade due to the manufacturing process and materials used, but it may also be pigmented as desired. It is sold commercially in various shades.

रोगन या वार्निश (अंग्रेजी:Varnish) एक पदार्थ है जो लकड़ी तथा अन्य कुछ पदार्थों के ऊपर लगायी जाती है जिससे उनकी सुरक्षा हो और वे सुन्दर दिखें। वार्निश के लेप चढ़ाने का उद्देश्य किसी तल को चिकना, चमकीला और आकर्षक बनाना होता है। यदि तल लकड़ी का है, तो तल की कीटों से रक्षा भी वार्निश से हो सकती है। यदि तल धातुओं का है, तो उसपर वायु, जल, प्रकाश आदि, से रक्षा कर मुरचा लगने से उसे बचाया जा सकता है।
