A license (US) or licence (Commonwealth) is an official permission or permit to do, use, or own something.

लाइसेंस (licence) या अनुज्ञा किसी अधिकृत संस्था द्वारा किसी कार्य को करने या किसी वस्तु को रखने, स्वामित्व जमाने या उसका क्रय-विक्रय करने की औपचारिक अनुमति को कहते हैं। आम भाषा में इस अनुमति को प्रमाणित करने वाले किसी पत्र को भी "लाइसेंस" कहते हैं। आधुनिक युग में वाहन चलाने, बन्दूक-जैसे हथियार ख़रीदने, अपनी दुकान या रेस्तरां में शराब बेचने के लिए लाइसेंस आवश्यक होता है। अक्सर लाइसेंसों के साथ एक अवधि और क्षेत्र जुड़ा होता है। मसलन विक्रेताओं को भारत के सिक्किम राज्य के लिए ४ वर्षों की अवधि के लिए शराब बेचने का लाइसेंस मिलता है।
