The chairman, also chairperson, chairwoman or chair, is the presiding officer of an organized group such as a board, committee, or deliberative assembly. The person holding the office, who is typically elected or appointed by members of the group or organisation, presides over meetings of the group, and conducts the group's business in an orderly fashion.

अध्यक्ष एक संगठन, दल, सभा, पंचायत, बोर्ड या किसी विशेष कार्यक्रम का स्वामी होता है। अध्यक्ष को संगठन में सर्वोपरि सदस्य माना जाता है। अगर संगठन में सर्वोपरि कोई महिला है तो उसके लिए अध्यक्षा(शब्द) का प्रयोग होता है। अध्यक्ष अपने संगठन के सभी सदस्यों का मार्गदर्शन करता है।
