पण्डित (पंडित) का अर्थ है विद्वान या अध्यापक से है, विशेषकर वह जो संस्कृत और हिन्दू विधि, धर्म, संगीत या दर्शनशास्त्र में सक्षम हो। अपने मूल अर्थ में 'पण्डित' शब्द का तात्पर्य हमेशा उस हिन्दू से लिया जाता है जिसने वेदों का कोई एक मुख्य भाग उसके उच्चारण और गायन के लय व ताल सहित कण्ठस्थ कर लिया हो।
