"नम्रता" मानव व्यवहार और प्रकृति का सर्वोच्च अलंकार है। इसका शाब्दिक अर्थ "मृदुता" होता है। यह नीति परायणता, विनम्रता, प्रशिक्षण और धैर्य रूप में दृष्टिगोचर होती है। भारतीय इतिहास पर अगर दृष्टि डाली जाए तो संभवत "नम्रता " ही समाज निर्माण के प्रथम चरण का भाव होगा । गुरु शिष्य परंपरा का आधारभूत स्तंभ के रूप में समर्पण भाव जब जागता है उसी के साथ नम्रता भी स्वभाव में सम्मिलित हो जाती हैं।
