केकड़ा NOUN

1. पानी का एक कीड़ा जिसे आठ टाँगें और दो पंजे होते हैं । विशेष—यह साधारण गड़हियों से लेकर समुद्र तक में पाया जाता है और भिन्न भिन्न आकार का, छोटा बड़ा और कई रंगों का होता है । यह अंडज है और इसके विषय में कहा जाता है कि इसकी माता अंडा देने से पहले मर जाती है । बरसात में केकड़े जोड़ा खाते है; और जब मादा का पेट अंड़ो से भर जाता है तब वह मर जाती है; और अंडे में से पकने पर, छोटे छोटे बच्चे निकलते हैं । कहते हैं कि पाँच खोल बदलने पर यह पूरा केकड़ा होता है । यह सुखी भूमि पर भी चल सकता है । गरमी में छिछले पानी या किनारे पर रहता है और जाड़े में गहरे जल में चला जाता है, जहाँ झुंड बाँधकर किसी दरार या गड्ढे में रहता है । बड़ा केकड़ा अपने छोटे और निर्बल केकड़ों को खा जाता है । भिन्न भिन्न प्रदेशों में लोग इसका मांस भी खाते हैं । वैद्यक में सफेद केकड़े का मांस वायु और पित्त का नाश करनेवाला और रुधिकारक तथा काले केकड़े का मांस बलकारक, गरम और वातनाशक माना गया है ।

Description

केकड़ा (Blue) आर्थ्रोपोडा संघ का एक जन्तु है। इसका शरीर गोलाकार तथा चपटा होता है। सिरोवक्ष (सिफेलोथोरेक्स) तथा उदर में बँटा रहता है। इसका उदर बहुत छोटा होता है। इसके सिरोवक्ष के अधर वाले भाग में पाँच जोड़े चलन पाद मिलते हैं। सिर पर एक जोड़ा सवृन्त संयुक्त नेत्र मिलता है। इसमें श्वसन गिल्स द्वारा होता है। इन्हें पकाकर खाया भी जाता है।
