- अंगीकार करना । स्वीकार करना । मंजूर करना । जैसे,— (क) हम मानते हैं कि आप उनकी बुराई नहीं कर रहे हैं । (ख) मान न मान, मैं तेरा मेहमान । (कहा०) ।
- कल्पना करना । फर्ज करना । समझना । जैसे,— मान लिजिए कि हम लोग वहाँ न जा सके; तो फिर क्या होगा ?

- कोई बात स्वीकर करना । कुछ मंजूर करना । जैसे,— आप किसी का कहना नहीं मानते ।
- किसी को पूज्य, आदरणीय या योग्य समझना । किसी के बड़प्पन या लियाकत का कायल होना । आदर करना । जैसे,— (क) उन महात्मा को यहाँ के बहुत लोग मानते हैं । (ख) लड़ाई झगड़ लगाने में मैं तुम्हें मानता हूँ । विशेष— कभी कभी कर्ता को छोड़कर उसके गुण या कार्य के संबंध में भी इस शब्द का इस अर्थ में प्रयोग होता है । जैसे,— उनका गाना बजाना अच्छे अच्छे उस्ताद मानते थे ।
- दक्ष समझना । पारंगत समझना । उस्ताद समझना ।
- धार्मिक दृष्टि से श्रद्धा या विश्वास करना । जैसे,— शिव को माननेवाले शैव कहलाते हैं ।
- देवता आदि की भेंट करने का प्रण करना । चढ़ावा चढ़ाने आदि का दृढ़ संकल्प करना । मन्नत करना । जैसे,—(१) के लड़ड़ू गणेश जी को मानो तो इम्तहान में पास हो जाओगे ।
- व्यान में लाना । समझना । जैसे,— यह तो किसी को कुछ भी नहीं मानता ।
- स्वीकृत करके अनुकूल कर्य करना । जैसे,—शिवरात्रि किसी ने आज मानी है और किसी ने कल ।
- किसी पर बहुत अनुरक्त होना । किसी के साथ बहुत प्रेम करना (बाजारू) ।
