Lynching is an extrajudicial killing by a group. It is most often used to characterize informal public executions by a mob in order to punish an alleged transgressor, punish a convicted transgressor, or intimidate people. It can also be an extreme form of informal group social control, and it is often conducted with the display of a public spectacle for maximum intimidation. Instances of lynchings and similar mob violence can be found in every society.

भीड़ हत्या या मॉब लिंचिंग पूर्वचिन्तित बिना किसी व्यवस्थित न्याय प्रक्रिया के, किसी अनौपचारिक अप्रशासनिक समूह द्वारा की गई हत्या या शारीरिक प्रताड़ना को कहा जाता है। कथित शब्द का उपयोग अक्सर एक बड़ी भीड़ द्वारा अन्यायिक रूप से किसी कथित अपराधियों को दंडित करने के लिए या किसी समूह को धमकाने के लिए, सार्वजनिक हत्या, या अन्य शारीरिक प्रताड़ना को चिह्नित करने के लिए उपयोग किया जाता है।किसी व्यक्ती को एक अनुशासनहीन भीड के व्दारा उस वक्त तक पीटा जाता है जब तक की उस की मृत्यु न हो जाए। ऐसी अप्रीय घटना को भीड़ हत्या या मॉब लिंचिंग की संज्ञा दी जाती है।
