In agriculture, grazing is a method of animal husbandry whereby domestic livestock are allowed outdoors to free range and consume wild vegetations in order to convert the otherwise indigestible cellulose within grass and other forages into meat, milk, wool and other animal products, often on land that is unsuitable for arable farming.

चरना (grazing) खाने की एक विधि होती है जिसमें कोई शाकाहारी जीव घास, शैवाल (ऐल्गी) या अन्य वनस्पतियों को खाता है। कृषि में पालतु पशुओं को चराकर रासायनिक दृष्टि से वनस्पतियों को दूध, मांस व अन्य पशु-उत्पादनों में बदला जाता है। घास जैसे कई वनस्पतियों में ऊर्जा घनत्व कम होने के कारण इन्हें चरने वाले प्राणी अक्सर इन्हें बड़ी मात्रा में खाते हैं और लम्बे अरसे तक चरने की क्रिया में व्यस्त रहते हैं।
