An eye is a sensory organ that allows an organism to perceive visual information. It detects light and converts it into electro-chemical impulses in neurons (neurones). It is part of an organism's visual system.

आँख या नेत्र जीवधारियों का वह अंग है जो प्रकाश के प्रति संवेदनशील है। यह प्रकाश को संसूचित करके उसे तंत्रिका (तन्त्रिका) कोशिकाओ द्वारा विद्युत-रासायनिक संवेदों में बदल देता है। उच्चस्तरीय जंतुओं (जन्तुओं) की आँखें एक जटिल प्रकाशीय तंत्र (तन्त्र) की तरह होती हैं जो आसपास के वातावरण से प्रकाश एकत्र करता है; मध्यपट के द्वारा आँख में प्रवेश करने वाले प्रकाश की तीव्रता का नियंत्रण (नियन्त्रण) करता है; इस प्रकाश को लेंसों की सहायता से सही स्थान पर केंद्रित (केन्द्रित) करता है ; इस प्रतिबिंब (प्रतिबिम्ब) को विद्युत संकेतों में बदलता है; इन संकेतों को तंत्रिका (तन्त्रिका) कोशिकाओ के माध्यम से मस्तिष्क के पास भेजता है।आँखो का रंग और वर्णन आँखें काली, [नीली]], भूरी, हरी और लाल रंग की हो सकती है। नेत्र यह तेजस्वी होते हैं। उन्हे कफ इन दोष से डर रहता है। इस कारण आँखो में सात दिन में कम-से-कम एक बार अंजन करना चाहिए।
