Aedes is a genus of mosquitoes originally found in tropical and subtropical zones, but now found on all continents except Antarctica. Some species have been spread by human activity: Aedes albopictus, a particularly invasive species, was spread to the New World, including the United States, in the 1980s, by the used-tire trade.

एडीज, मच्छरो का एक वंश हैं। सभी मच्छरों की तरह ही इसके जीवन चक्र की चार अवस्थाएं हैं: अण्डा, लारवा, प्यूपा एंव व्यस्क. पहली चार अवस्थाएं जल के अंदर पूरी होती हैं। यह कई महत्वपूर्ण रोंगो जैसे फाईलेरिया, चिकूनगुनिया, पीत ज्वर तथा पक्षियों में होने वाले मलेरिया का वाहक है। इस मच्छर की उत्पत्ति अफ्रिका में हुई थी परन्तु आज यह संपूर्ण उपोष्ण कटिबंधी क्षेत्र में पाया जाता है।
