When we should use “instead” at the end of the sentence ?

Instead [Adverb] means
‘as an alternative or substitute’.

Example:-

We went to theatre to watch ‘Bahubali’ but it was housefull, instead we watched ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
Or
we watched ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, instead.

Both are correct.
