MemberTranslation is not my forte; especially when the tenses matter. But I’ll explain how they are different.
1)He was proud to have been chosen to lead the project
2)He was proud to be elected to lead the project.
Both are almost the same. They mean “some people selected him to lead the project and he was proud in it”. The only difference is….
(2) enunciates that the selection was a lengthy process, whereas, the (1) doesn’t give much clarity in it. That’s it.

ModeratorHe was proud to have been chosen to lead the project=He was proud that he had been chosen to lead the project.
>>>Vah गौरवान्वित tha ki use project ka नेतृत्व ke liye chuna gaya tha.He was proud to be elected to lead the project=He was proud that he was elected to lead the project.
>>> Vah गौरवान्वित tha ki use project नेतृत्व ke liye निर्वाचित hua.
—-No difference in the meaning except in the sentence formation.

ModeratorIn my opinion:
When a company/boss/manager/leader or competent decision maker takes the decision, then you are “chosen” to lead the project.
When the matter is decided by a democratic process like election, meeting, joint discussion, conference etc you are “elected” to lead the project.
