I don’t know whether you did it deliberately or not, but lifekul didn’t write so. It’s not “study” but “studies” if you mean the word to be used for “Academic subjects”
The dictionary says….
2 studies [plural] (formal) a particular person’s learning activities, for example at a college or university
Eg: to continue your studies

academic subject
3 studies [uncountable + singular or plural verb] used in the names of some academic subjects
Eg: business/media/American studies

Study vs Studies>>
.
Study and Studies are two words that are often confused when it comes to their usage. It is important to know that both these words are different from each otherand they convey different meanings for that matter. The word ‘study’ is used in the sense of ‘learn’. On the other hand, the word ‘studies’ is used in the sense of ‘research’. This is the main difference between the two words. In fact, it can be said that the word ‘studies’ has the suggestive meaning of ‘research’. Otherwise, it is used as the simple present form of the verb ‘study’ as in the sentence ‘he studies well’.
Observe the two sentences
1. Francis has to study for two more years.
2. Angela studied very well.In both the sentences, you can find that the word ‘study’ is used in the sense of ‘learn’ and hence, the meaning of the first sentence would be ‘Francis has to learn for two more years’, and the meaning of the second sentence would be ‘Angela learned very well’.Observe the two sentences
1. His studies paid off.
2. The studies made in the field of linguistics have found new truths.
In both the sentences, you can see that the word ‘studies’ is used in the sense of ‘research’ and hence, the first sentence can be rewritten as ‘his research paid off’, and the second sentence can be rewrittenas ‘the research made in the field of linguistics have found new truths’.It is interesting to note that the word ‘study’ is sometimes used in the sense of ‘schoolwork’ as in the sentence ‘he completed his study for the day’. In this sentence, the word ‘study’ has a peculiar meaning of ‘school work’. It is important to know that the words ‘study’ and ‘studies’ are used as nouns. The word ‘study’ is used as verb too.

Angel,
I don’t like to argue with anyone. What I do here is just to express my views. If it seems fair to you, you can take it. Otherwise just forget it.

Study vs Studies>>

You seem to have been totally confused by this word. Don’t try to make this more complex. Try to make it simple.
As far as I am aware, “study” can be used in two capacities. The first is noun and the second is verb. Most of your examples sentences are about the second use. That’s not your area of concern, I guess. So, just keep it aside.
As a noun, “study can be used in 2 ways.”
1. The activity of learning something.(or gaining knowledge of something) of a particular kind; not more than one such thing.

Eg: Private study, Scientific study etc.
But the point to be noted here if you mention more than one such study, you must use “Studies” (plural of the word). When you say the below given lines, it is not your gaining knowledge in one particular subject but more than one you are mentioning. It may not always mean “Research”

AngelSakshi - 24 Sep 2014 00:49

1. His studies paid off.
2. The studies made in the field of linguistics have found new truths..

2 studies [plural] (formal) a particular person’s learning activities, for example at a college or university
Eg: to continue your studies
{Quoted from my previous post}
If you are pursuing a particular course, you don’t normally learn or gain knowledge in a particular thing but a group of things. So, you must use “studies”; not “study”.

3. If you are describing about academic subjects, use “studies”. It is based on the assumption that such subjects are based on a lot of observations.

Does it help you anyway?
