I think “hua karta tha” means “used to be my friend”
So in this case is it correct?
If we say “wo naukari chodne se pahle mera dost tha” then also it would not be fully correct as that would be a translation of “he was my friend before he left the job”
“He had been” must be correctly translated.
Any other suggestions?
