MemberA Chinese investigative journalist whose work has led to the ouster of corrupt officials and a Chinese environmental lawyer are among this year’s six recipients of the Ramon Magsaysay Awards, often regarded as Asia’s version of the Nobel Prize. Wang Canfa is the other Chinese awards recipient. He founded the Center for Legal Assistance to Pollution Victims, which has offered free legal services to thousands of people and provided environmental law training to lawyers and others. Among other awardees were Indonesian anthropologist Saur Marlina Manurung, who put up a “Jungle School” program for children of Indonesia’s Orang Rimba, or forest people; and Filipino teacher Randy Halasan, for serving the indigenous Matigsalug tribe.

6. The soon-to-be-turned private bank IDFC will be headed by its current Executive Chairman Rajiv Lall. Subject to RBI approval, Rajiv Lall will be the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IDFC Bank, which is expected to be formed by October 2015, confirmed Sunil Kakar, Group CFO of IDFC.

7. Large public companies can now appoint an individual as the Chairperson as well as Managing Director or chief executive officer at the same time. This dispensation will be available for public companies with a paid-up capital of Rs. 100 crore or more and an annual turnover of Rs. 1000 crore or more, the corporate affairs ministry has said.
बड़ी सार्वजनिक कंपनियां अब अध्यक्ष व निदेशक या मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी के रूप में एक ही व्यक्ति की नियुक्ति कर सकती हैं। कारपोरेट मामलों के मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि यह सुविधा उन सार्वजनिक कंपनियों के लिए उपलब्ध होगी जिनकी चुकता पूंजी 100 करोड़ रुपये या उससे अधिक है और वार्षिक कारोबार 1000 करोड़ रुपये या उससे अधिक है।
