I watch Hindi TV soaps and there is a verb that comes up *very* commonly, meaning to insult or humiliate. It sounds like beshna but it could be bheshna, bhejhna, baijna, and other combinations. I’ve looked it up countless times in every dictionary I can lay my hands on including shabdkosh but nothing lists it either as Hindi or as a Hindi translation of insult or humiliate. Can anyone tell me how this word should be spelt? Thank you!

Hello,

I have come across the phrase ullu ka pattha in a poem. This is tricky for two reasons, 1. I have found the definition of pattha to be tendon or hindquarters. Is this a polite euphemism for posterior/butt etc. 2. If this is Hindi slang for “Owl’s Butt,” then what would this translate to English as?

I am familiar with ullu ka baccha and would translate it colloquially as “idiot” or even “dumbass.” Is Ulu ka patthA the same?

Thank you

Hello again :)

I’ve been using shabdkosh for quite some time now to translate some keywords for websites. I do not translate entire website content myself but I like to translate the “main” keywords myself for search engine marketing reasons.

What I am looking for is someone to confirm the english meaning of a list of kannada words that I have prepared.
For example I would like to know
(i) if ಕ್ರೀಡಾ means sports and
(ii) if it is the most common and popular way of writing “sports”.

I have a list of kannada words to check but also some in hindi, marathi, bangla, gujartai, telugu and tamil.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
